Fore and bottom edges uncut and some pages unopened. Ink mss inscription on front free endpaper dated 1925. Black printed title on red cloth with a little wear to top of upper joint. No dustjacket. The first edition was published in 1924 and quickly followed by the second edition. Nesta Helen Webster (1876-1960), a controversial author and intensely political, wrote about secret societies in not just an historical sense but placed them in the context of her own political beliefs, reviving conspiracy theories about the Illuminati and contributing to articles centered on the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion'. 'Secret Societies' was first published in 1924 with a number of subsequent editions.
